The New York Academy of Sciences, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State and a consortium of over 30 U.S. women’s colleges, has launched the 2nd year of the NeXXt Scholars Program. This Program aims to engage and advance American women and women from countries with predominantly Muslim populations to pursue undergraduate degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) academic fields. In order to accomplish this goal, the Academy will provide partnership, mentorship, and networking support for these scholars, by way of a STEM Fellow.

We are interested to see if MIT Biology Postdoc Association would disseminate the call for Fellow applications to your community. The deadline for mentor applications is Monday, July 15th. We’re looking for female STEM professionals, graduate-level students, and postdocs to apply, who have a desire to help the next generation of women break into STEM-related fields. More information about the NeXXt Fellow Program including requirements and application information can be found at http://www.nyas.org/promotions/forms/2013NeXXtScholars.html

Amber Schaub, is available if you have more specific questions about the mentor process or require any additional information in order to disseminate these opportunities. Amber can be contacted at aschaub@nyas.org.
