MIT PDA Mentoring Program Application Deadline

2017 MIT Postdoctoral Association Mentoring Program

Hosted by MIT-PDA Professional Development Committee

Join us for our exciting 2017 MIT PDA Mentoring Program and learn from experienced professionals how to achieve career success after completion of your academic traineeship. The program will run from May to November 2017 and will consist of monthly informal sessions with outstanding mentors who are excited to help the MIT postdoctoral community. They will share their valuable professional insights and experiences, thus providing important information and guidance for your career development. Mentors include Michael Birnbaum (MIT Faculty), Dane Walther (Akamai), Bob Porras (Dell EMC), Francesca Lazzeri (Microsoft), Francis Wolenski (Takeda Oncology), Michele L. Ostraat (Aramco), Ishan Capila (Momenta Pharma), Anne Bothmer (Editas), Darby Schmidt (Quartet Medicine), Tilman Kispersky (McKinsey), Vyas Ramanan (Third Rock Venture) and many more. To participate in our Mentoring Program, please complete the online application form (here) until May 8th 2017. Successful applicants will be custom matched to mentors based on areas of interest and career goals and invited to a first kickoff meeting on May 24th 2017. [BPDA] 1st Annual Symposium on Careers and Collaboration in Science (B-SoCCS)

The Boston Postdoctoral Association is hosting its first annual Symposium on Careers and Collaboration in Science (B-SoCCS) at the Broad Institute on June 16th – 17th, 2017. The symposium will host talks, workshops, and panels to provide you with the practical tools necessary to advance your professional development in academia or industry. Plus, attend networking opportunities to meet and connect with experts from both industry and academia.  

There will be several opportunities to present your research to the Boston scientific community, particularly aimed at nurturing academic-industry collaborations. These are also great opportunities to propel your career by highlighting your research to the many small and large biomedical companies that will be present.

Career Speed Networking with STEM Professionals

MIT Cooking Competition

Hosted by MIT-PDA Community Building Committee and MIT Spouses and Partners Connect

The PDA and the MIT Spouses & Partners Connect proudly present:The MIT Cooking Competition. Postdocs, spouses, and partners from all over the world will gather on April 14th in the Dining Hall of the Sydney Pacific Dorms (Bldg. NW86) to participate in this unique competition. Come and see their creations of finger food and enjoy a cooking demonstration by the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts. The winners of the competition will be crowned that night, and you can be in the jury. So come join us for light snacks, drinks, and good company. If 21+, please bring ID.

We are still looking for volunteers to help making this event happening. We will do 2 shifts (~1.5 hours each), so you will get to enjoy the event before or after your shift.
