Dear Postdocs,

At the heart of the MIT mission statement is a call to serve the nation and the world—and this charge is embodied by the MIT Public Service Center (PSC).The MIT IDEAS Global Challenge is a competition to encourage students to come up with innovative solutions to community problems. Run by the MIT Public Service Center, the competition’s emphasis is on supporting projects that will create meaningful positive changes for underserved populations.
Throughout the year, they need lots of volunteers to make the competition happen! They’d be happy to have more assistance in the following roles:
– Reviewers: There are two more rounds for reviewing teams’ initial Scope Statements this year, and our volunteers provide meaningful feedback on these proposals. Serving as a reviewer requires attending two in-person meetings per round (meeting dates are listed below).
– Mentors: Work with teams one-on-one to help them develop their project. This is a more flexible time commitment, and depends wholly on your arrangement with teams. We’ll help with the matchmaking process, depending on your expertise and the nature of the projects.
– Eventers: helping out with set-up, clean-up, managing of events. Next big events take place in February and April.
Please contact Keely at kcswan@mit.edu if you’re interested in any of these roles or have questions. Thanks!
