In July of this year, the PDA’s DE&I Committee administered a survey on the hiring and recruitment of postdocs around the institute. We are happy to share with you the results of this survey. Thank you to those of you that responded to the survey this summer.
This survey represents a first effort to understand the relationship between the diversity of the postdoc population, and postdoc hiring and recruiting practices at MIT. Though this initial study had too few responses to deeply examine this issue given the significant differences between fields, we hope that the results of this survey can be used to further data collection on the subject, and eventually help lead to a more equitable and inclusive process.
We have published the results of this survey on our website at this link, and we  invite you to share widely.  This information itself improves the transparency of the process, and we hope will inspire similar work at other institutions.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to the DE&I Committee Chair, pda-humanaffairs@mit.edu.
