Happy July Postdocs!

Come spend a day at the beach with your colleagues, friends, and families! We’re planning to visit
Carson Beach next Sunday, July 19, from 11-6pm (Changed from Saturday due to rain!). The PDA Get Out Committee and MIT Spouses and Partners are bringing beach games and providing light snacks and drinks. We need you to bring your smiles and beach gear. Please RSVP here so that we know how much space to reserve.

Through our PDA Inititative Grants, a Postdoc Kids Play Date Initiative was recently formed. The organizer, Xiaoyu Peng, will be attending the event and bringing kid-friendly activities and toys. She’s organizing beach activities like sand snowmen, sand castles, water balloons, and water relay races! This all sounds fun for postdocs, too 🙂 Please connect with her at the event or via email to introduce your kids to each other, form a play date group, and brainstorm future play date activities. Also, please do not hesitate to come to this event if you do not have children to bring along this Saturday – we are planning fun activities for postdocs in all life phases!

We’d also like you to save the date for our annual PDA BBQ on the evening of August 14. Last year, half of the entire MIT Postdoc body showed up for this event, and we hope to make it better than ever this year! On that note, please use this form to sign up as a volunteer. Thank you to all the postdocs that have already offered to volunteer! We’ve decided to have a potluck for sides and desserts, so please start thinking about what you’d like to contribute! More details coming soon!

Given the rain and predictions for some lightning this afternoon, we’ve decided to move the beach day until tomorrow. The forecasts for tomorrow are beautiful, so we hope most of you can still make it then!
